ਸੰਤੋਖ ਸਿੰਘ ਧੀਰ (2 ਦਸੰਬਰ 1920 - 8 ਫਰਵਰੀ 2010) ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਅਕਾਦਮੀ ਇਨਾਮ ਜੇਤੂ ਲੇਖਕ ਸੀ।[1][2][3]

ਜੀਵਨ

ਸੰਤੋਖ ਸਿੰਘ ਧੀਰ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 2 ਦਸੰਬਰ 1920 ਨੂੰ ਪਿੰਡ ਬੱਸੀ ਪਠਾਣਾਂ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ, ਬ੍ਰਿਟਿਸ਼ ਪੰਜਾਬ (ਹੁਣ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਫਤਹਿਗੜ੍ਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ, ਭਾਰਤੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ) ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਦਕਾ ਖੰਨੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਡਡਹੇੜੀ ਪਿੰਡ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਈਸ਼ਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਮਤੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇਵੀ ਸੀ।[4] ਸਕੂਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਛੇ ਜਮਾਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਰਸਮੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕਰ ਸਕਿਆ। ਅੱਠ ਭੈਣ-ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਨਿੱਕੀ ਉਮਰੇ ਹੀ ਪਿਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੀ ਦਰਜ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਅਤੇ ਧੰਦੇ ਦੀ ਪਰਿਪੱਕਤਾ ਲਈ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਲੀ, ਸ਼ਿਮਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਵਲਪਿੰਡੀ ਜਾਣਾ ਪਿਆ[5]।

ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਾ

ਆਪ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਤੰਗੀਆਂ ਤੁਰਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੜ੍ਹੇ ਤੇ ਜਵਾਨ ਹੋਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗ਼ਰੀਬੀ ਤੇ ਦੱਬੇ ਕੁਚਲੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨੇੜਿਓਂ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਸੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਲਿਖਿਆ, ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਲਿਖਿਆ।[6]
