ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਕਪੂਰ ਦਿੱਲੀ, ਭਾਰਤ ਨੂੰਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਕਨਾਟ ਪਲੇਸ, ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਟੇਲਰ ਦੀ ਦੁਕਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਇੱਕ ਲੰਮੇ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਕਪੂਰ, ਸੁਪਰਸਟਾਰ ਸੁਨੀਲ ਦੱਤ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੰਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗੇ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਲਈ "ਰਾਕੀ" ਬਣਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਰ ਫਿਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਲਨਾਇਕ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੋਲ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਸੁਨੀਲ ਦੱਤ ਨੇ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਸਦਾ ਨਾਂ "ਸੁਨੀਲ ਸਿਕੰਦਰਲਾਲ ਕਪੂਰ" ਉਸਦੇ ਖਲਨਾਇਕ ਦੇ ਰੋਲ ਨਾਲ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ "ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਕਪੂਰ" ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।
ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਕਪੂਰ ਦੀ ਆਰਡੀ ਦੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਖ਼ੂਬ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ੰਸਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਣ ਲੱਗੀ।
