ਭਵਾਨੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਦਾ ਕਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਆਲਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਵਾਸਤੇ 1749 ਈਸਵੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਣਵਾਇਆ ਸੀ। ਸੱਤ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ 1781 ਈਸਵੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿੰਘ ਗੱਦੀ ਉਤੇ ਬੈਠਿਆ। ਸੰਨ 1794 ਈਸਵੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਰਾਠਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਉਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਰਾਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਫੌਜਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤ ਇਸ ਲੜਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਰਾਠੇ ਹਾਰ ਕੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਭੱਜ ਗਏ ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਦਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਜਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਰਾਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੌਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਭਵਾਨੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਕਿਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੈਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਰਾਣੀ ਕਿਲੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਚ ਕੇ ਨਿਕਲ 'ਚ ਕਾਮਜ਼ਾਬ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਤੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਉਭਾਵਾਲ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ 1799 ਈਸਵੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਸਮੇਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਕਿਲਾ ਹੌਲੀ-ਹੌਲੀ ਖੰਡਰ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਗਿਆ।[1]
