ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 3 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 1943 ਨੂੰ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਨਿਊਯਾਰਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੀਤਿਆ ਜਿਥੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹਾਰਵਰਡ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਪਰਬੰਧਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਚਲਰ ਦੀ ਡਿਗਰੀ ਲਈ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰੋਕਟਰ ਅਤੇ ​​ਗੈਂਬਲ (P & G) ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ।
