ਬਾਬਾ ਮਹਿਤਾਬ ਸਿੰਘ (1710-1740) ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪਿੰਡ ਮੀਰਾਂਕੋਟ ਦਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੀ। ਬਾਬਾ ਮਹਿਤਾਬ ਸਿੰਘ ਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪਸ 'ਚ ਭੂਆ ਤੇ ਮਾਮੇ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਨ। ਭਾਈ ਸੁੱਖਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਮਹਿਤਾਬ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇ ਜੁਲਮ ਤੇ ਮਨਮਾਨੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੱਸੇ ਰੰਘੜ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ ਬਦਲਾ ਲਿਆ।[1] ਆਪ ਜੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਦੇ ਬੱਬਰ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਸਨ।

17ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ 'ਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੁਗਲਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਲ ਪਾਉਣੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ ਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜ਼ੁਲਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਤੰਗ ਆ ਕੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਨੇ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ, ਮਾਰੂਥਲਾਂ, ਬੇਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਸੰਨ 1740 ਵਿੱਚ ਜਕਰੀਆ ਖਾਨ ਨੇ ਮੱਸੇ ਰੰਘੜ ਨੂੰ ਜੰਡਿਆਲੇ ਦਾ ਚੌਧਰੀ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਸੰਨ 1740 ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਸੱਚਖੰਡ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿਮੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ 'ਤੇ ਮੱਸੇ ਰੰਘੜ ਨੇ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਤੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਨਮਾਨੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ। ਆਪਣੀ ਹੈਂਕੜ ਅਤੇ ਜਕਰੀਆ ਖਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮੱਸੇ ਨੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਖੇ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਤੰਬਾਕੂ ਦੇ ਖੁਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੌਰ ਚਲਾਏ ਤੇ ਕੰਜਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਚ ਨਚਾਉਣੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਲੂੰਧਰੇ ਗਏ ਮੱਸੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਦੌੜ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਬਦਲਾ ਲੈਣ ਭਾਈ ਮਹਿਤਾਬ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਸੁੱਖਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੋ ਪਿੰਡ ਮਾੜੀ ਕੰਬੋਕੀ ਦਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੀ, ਨੇ ਸਤੰਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਨੰਬਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਮੱਸੇ ਰੰਘੜ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਵੱਢਿਆ ਤੇ ਨੇਜ਼ੇ ਤੇ ਟੰਗ ਕੇ ਤਲਵੰਡੀ ਸਾਬੋ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਤੱਕ ਬੀਕਾਨੇਰ ਲੈ ਗਏ ਤੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਾਲਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ।[2]
ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ
ਬਾਬਾ ਮਹਿਤਾਬ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਲਾਹੌਰ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਦੋ ਦਿਨ ਬਾਅਦ ਮੱਸੇ ਰੰਘੜ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਬਦਲੇ ਲਾਹੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੁਲਾਈ 1745 ਵਿੱਚ ਚਰਖੜੀ 'ਤੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
