ਵਿਨੋਦ ਖੋਸਲਾ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 28 ਜਨਵਰੀ 1955 ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਮੱਧਵਰਗੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਫ਼ੌਜੀ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਪਿਤਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਵਿਨੋਦ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਵਾਂਗ ਫ਼ੌਜੀ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਬਣੇ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਝੁਕਾਅ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਵੱਲ ਸੀ। 14 ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਇੰਸ ਮੈਗਜ਼ੀਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੰਟੈੱਲ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਉੱਪਰੰਤ ਤਕਨੀਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੈਰੀਅਰ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਧਾਰ ਲਈ।
