ਲੋਕਮਾਨਅ ਕੇਸਵ ਬਾਲ ਗੰਗਾਧਰ ਤਿਲਕ (ਮਰਾਠੀ: 
लोकमान्य बाळ गंगाधर टिळक{{#ifeq:|no|| (ਮਦਦ·ਜਾਣੋ)}}, 23 ਜੁਲਾਈ, 1856 - 1ਅਗਸਤ 1920) ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਨੇਤਾ, ਸਮਾਜ ਸੁਧਾਰਕ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਤੰਤਰਤਾ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸੁਤੰਤਰਤਾ ਸੰਗਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਲੋਕਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਨੇਤਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਵਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਚੁੱਕੀ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕਥਨ ‘ਸਵਰਾਜ ਮੇਰਾ ਜਨਮ ਸਿੱਧ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਰਹਾਗਾਂ’ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਹੋਇਆ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਲੋਕਮਾਨਅ (ਪੂਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ) ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ।[1]
ਮੁਢਲਾ ਜੀਵਨ
ਤਿਲਕ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 23 ਜੁਲਾਈ, 1856 ਨੂੰ ਮਹਾਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਦੇ ਰਤਨਾਗਿਰੀ ਜਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।[2] ਉਹ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਕਾਲਜ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਪਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕੁੱਝ ਸਮਾਂ ਸਕੂਲ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲਜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਣਿਤ ਪੜਾਇਆ। ਅੰਗਰੇਜੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਘੋਰ ਆਲੋਚਕ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸਭਿਅਤਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਅਪਮਾਨ ਸਿਖਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦੱਖਣ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਸੋਸਾਇਟੀ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਦੀ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦਾ ਪੱਧਰ ਸੁਧਰੇ।[3]
ਅਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਲਈ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼
ਬਾਲਗੰਗਾਧਰ ਤਿਲਕ ਨੇ ਮਰਾਠੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਰਾਠਾ ਦਰਪਣ ਕੇਸਰੀ ਨਾਮਕ ਦੈਨਿਕ ਸਮਾਚਾਰ ਪੱਤਰ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜੋ ਜਲਦੀ ਹੀ ਜਨਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਲੋਕਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਤਿਲਕ ਨੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਬੇਰਹਿਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਹੀਨ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਆਲੋਚਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਬ੍ਰਿਟਿਸ਼ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਭਾਰਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਵਰਾਜ ਦੇਵੇ। ਕੇਸਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਛਪਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲੇਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਜ੍ਹਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
ਤਿਲਕ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ ਪਰ ਜਲਦੀ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੇ ਨਰਮਪੰਥੀ ਵਿਹਾਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਬੋਲਣ ਲੱਗੇ। 1907 ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਗਰਮ ਦਲ ਅਤੇ ਨਰਮ ਦਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡੀ ਗਈ। ਗਰਮ ਦਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਿਲਕ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਲਾ ਲਾਜਪਤ ਰਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਪਿਨ ਚੰਦਰ ਪਾਲ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਲ-ਬਾਲ-ਪਾਲ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਣ ਲੱਗਾ। 1908 ਵਿੱਚ ਤਿਲਕ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰਾਂਤੀਵਾਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਫੁੱਲ ਚਕੀ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਦੀਰਾਮ ਬੋਸ ਦੇ ਬੰਬ ਹਮਲੇ ਦਾ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਿਸਦੀ ਵਜ੍ਹਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਮਾ (ਹੁਣ ਮਿਆਂਮਾਰ) ਵਿੱਚ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਤੋਂ ਛੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਫਿਰ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ 1916-18 ਵਿੱਚ ਐਨੀ ਬੀਸੇਂਟ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਹੰਮਦ ਅਲੀ ਜਿੰਨਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਪੂਰਣ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਹੋਮ ਰੂਲ ਲੀਗ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ।[4]
ਸਮਾਜ ਸੁਧਾਰ
ਤਿਲਕ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਦੇ ਜਤਨ ਕੀਤੇ। ਉਹ ਬਾਲ-ਵਿਆਹ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਪੂਰਣ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਉੱਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਮਹਾਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਵਜਨਿਕ ਗਣੇਸ਼ੋਤਸਵ ਦੀ ਪਰੰਪਰਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਸਵਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਣ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਰੰਗ ਮੰਚ ਉਪਲੱਬਧ ਹੋਵੇ। ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤੀ, ਪਰੰਪਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਤਹਾਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲੇਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਵੈਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਜਾਗ੍ਰਤ ਹੋਈ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ ਲਗਭਗ 2 ਲੱਖ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਾਹ-ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ।
ਮੌਤ
ਸੰਨ 1919 ਈ. ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਬੈਠਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਪਰਤਣ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੱਕ ਤਿਲਕ ਇਨ੍ਹੇ ਨਰਮ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਾਂਟੇਗਿਊ-ਚੇਮਸਫੋਰਡ ਸੁਧਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਰਿਏ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਲੇਜਿਸਲੇਟਿਵ ਕਾਉਂਸਿਲਜ (ਵਿਧਾਈ ਪਰਿਸ਼ਦਾਂ) ਦੇ ਚੋਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਈਕਾਟ ਦੀ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਦੀ ਨੀਤੀ ਦਾ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸਦੇ ਬਜਾਏ ਤਿਲਕ ਨੇ ਖੇਤਰੀ ਸਰਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁੱਝ ਹੱਦ ਤੱਕ ਭਾਰਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਭਾਗੀਦਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੁਧਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਨਿਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ‘ਪ੍ਰਤਿਉੱਤਰਪੂਰਣ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ’ ਦੀ ਨੀਤੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਕਰਨ।ਲੇਕਿਨ ਨਵੇਂ ਸੁਧਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਰਣਾਇਕ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ 1 ਅਗਸਤ, ਸੰਨ 1920 ਈ. ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਬਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਿਲਕ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਂਜਲੀ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਹਾਤਮਾ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਭਾਰਤ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਾਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਹਿਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਕ੍ਰਾਂਤੀ ਦੇ ਜਨਕ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਧੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
