ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ (ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤ: अमृत) ਇੱਕ ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ "ਅਵਿਨਾਸ਼ਤਾ"। ਭਾਰਤੀ ਗ੍ਰੰਥਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਅਮਰਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਰਸਾਇਣ (nectar) ਦੇ ਅਰਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਰਿਗਵੇਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਇਹ ਸੋਮ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਪਰਿਆਇਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ। ਵਿਉਤਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਇਹ ਯੂਨਾਨੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਅੰਬਰੋਸੀਆ (ambrosia) ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਅਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਾਰਨੀ ਹੈ।
